Eclipse

Eclipse

They sing songs of my freedom,

So I spread my wings,

and soar across the sky.

Feathers brush plump cloud,

Withdrawing and revealing the golden halo,

That is the king of the sky.

He rises to greet his loyal subjects,

sky, cloud, and me.

The song of the heartbeat.

Peace had claimed me.

Wrapped in its embrace,

whispering words of love.

This was bliss.

But a beautiful moment must meet its end.

And what an end I had perceived.

A thunderous roar that tore the sky

Bleeding Black and nothing more.

Grey clouds, pregnant with a wrath I was yet to endure.

Pain settled within my chest,

And pushed against my flesh,

Stabbing against my shoulders till liquid began to gush,

Rendered helpless, I watched as one lone feather,

still the purest of white,

Dipped in blood and spiralling out of sight.

Choking on my breath till there was nothing more,

I open my mouth, eliciting a soundless roar,

And here I lie, a prisoner,

trapped in his lore.
