Home Time

Home Time
The view from the house I grew up in.

Closing my eyes, my memory reaches back.

Lush green surrounds envelope my senses.

Open fields caress the escarpment.

Below, horses graze in giving paddocks.

Everything smells like cut grass,

the freshness of Spring.

Protective trees sway as

Jacaranda purple pulses in a light breeze.

I remember picking citrus fruits on winter days,

sweet and sour stick to my tongue.

Hide and seek fun.

Picnics in the sun.

Climbing trees.

The freeing feeling of grass beneath my feet.

I am wandering home through time.
